The ICBC welcomes all black and brown naturalists as well as those non-BIPOC folks who practice ACTIVE allyship to participate in a walk up to the hawkwatch/lookout as we intentionally explore the space, talk about representation in the outdoors.
The In Color Birding Club (ICBC) was founded in Spring of 2021 to create pathways and intentional space in nature for black and brown folks, specifically birding. The goal of the ICBC is to open the world of birding and the outdoors to historically under-represented communities in the Philadelphia area. The natural world, and more specifically the great outdoor resources in the Greater Philadelphia Area, should be accessible and inspiring to ALL of its residents, while breaking free from historic systemic policies that created limitations to these spaces for black and brown folks.
Please bring snacks, thermos, and/or lunch to have when we reach the top. This trail includes some steep inclines/stairs and is mostly gravel/dirt. Restrooms are at the Visitor Center where we will begin and end the outing.
