ABOUT ABOUT

Teacher workshop based on 1 of the 2 new curricula developed by Hawk Mountain, thanks to support from the Wild Resource Conservation Program.

This curriculum is designed for high school students and explores the movement ecology of broad-wing hawks and the ecological niches they inhabit on their 6200 mile round trip migration using Google Earth Pro. These birds were tagged by Sanctuary scientists and are being tracked by satellite telemetry.

Educators will also get natural history information from Director of Conservation Science Dr. Laurie Goodrich and PhD candidate Rebecca McCabe.

This interdisciplinary curriculum connects ecology with geography and mathematics and promotes STEM in the classroom. Aligned with PDE and NGS standards. Act 48 pending.

Participants will receive all educational materials and lesson plans. Breakfast provided.

$30 per educator.
