Homeschooled students are invited to join us on the Mountain monthly for experiential learning! Topics will focus on phenology of the Appalachian forest ecosystem. Programs are designed for K-12 students and are filled with hands-on learning activities both inside and outdoors.
September 21: Incredible Invertebrates
Look at the smaller things in life and understand how they affect the larger things. This month we will explore the extremely important role that bugs have in our lives and how they help all living things on earth!
October 19: Falcon Fest!
It’s all about speed this month! Let’s learn about the fastest animals on the planet— falcons—and how they are specifically designed to go as fast as they can.
November 16: Biomimicry
Airplane engines, dry suits, Velcro, and much more. What does it have in common? All of them were inspired by designs in nature! This month we learn about all the things that make our day-to-day lives easier that were inspired by nature.
December 14: Veterinary Science
We get medical this month! Learn about some of the science behind what our vets are looking for when we take our animals to the vets and just how many kinds of animal medicine exist in the world.
