ABOUT ABOUT

In this 50th anniversary year of the National Environmental Protection Act, we remember Rachel Carson: the woman who penned the landmark Silent Spring and testified before the US Congress, alerting us to unintended consequences and the meaning of the balance of nature.

Enjoy a virtual tour of the humble Western Pennsylvania farm-house that was Carson’s 1907 birthplace and family home for 22 years. Share her boundless passion for Nature developed in the fields and woods at her early home and reflected during visits to Hawk Mountain. Internationally recognized as the founder of the modern environmental movement, Rachel Carson’s call to action led to “eco–everything.”
