ABOUT ABOUT

This field-based workshop is for the amateur enthusiast, naturalist or student, and explores how winter helps shape the ecology of the Appalachian ecosystem. The course will explore how plants and animals cope with winter and how we can study tracks and other forest cues to understand their behavior and resilience. Participants will enhance their field naturalist skills through observations, tracking, and wildlife ecology methods. No experience is needed but ability to hike on snow-covered trails is important.
