ABOUT ABOUT

Although they are the most intensively studied marine invertebrate, scientists are discovering new things about horseshoe crabs all the time. Saving people’s lives every day, they are an important marine resource that has been harvested by the millions for bait, fertilizer and medical research. We will explore the educational, medicinal, and ecological importance of the eggs, eyes, shells and blood of Limulus polyphemus; as well as their critical role sustaining shorebird populations in North America.

Writer/Naturalist John Hay observed: “There is no animal more maligned and at the same time worthier of attention than the horseshoe crab.”
