Join in celebrating Black Birders Week with a guided walk from the Visitor Center to South Lookout, as we enjoy the sounds and sights of the mountain around us. We will also discuss outdoor recreation opportunities nearby and in a variety of settings.
Hawk Mountain staff will be joined by special guest leader, Thomas Koger. Mr. Koger is a retired school principal from Philadelphia, PA. He has supported youth in their academic development through the years and continues to support young people in their understanding and appreciation of nature and the natural environment. Thomas is the recipient of the Vocational Service Award from the Rotary Club of Philadelphia, a Youth Aid Panel participant, and he has led nature walks at and is a former board member of the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia, PA.
* This event is in celebration of Black Birders Week—a week-long series of events to highlight Black nature enthusiasts and to increase the visibility of Black birders, who face unique challenges and dangers when engaging in outdoor activities.
Masks and social distancing recommended when near other visitors.
