Join us at the mountain for an afternoon of creativity. We will weave the Appalachian forest into writing, unpacking our relationships with nature through words. This workshop is suitable for anyone, regardless of comfort level or experience in writing.
Various styles and examples will be given and available for reference throughout the workshop, including excerpts by nature writers such as Barry Lopez, Aldo Leopold, and Hawk Mountain’s own Maurice & Irma Broun. We will discuss several components of writing practice in a relaxed atmosphere before venturing out of doors to try it ourselves! Sharing your work will be optional; the most important thing is that we have fun, try something new, and sink into the natural world.
Please bring journal, pen/pencil, and water bottle.
